New Product: Sentinel Silver 20 and 35 OSW

Outside weatherable (OSW) films have been introduced for clients who have a low-e, laminated or wired glazing. These types of glazing have physical properties that prohibit the installation of traditional indoor window film. Additionally there are situations where indoor film cannot be applied such as when access to the interior of a building or structure is limited or prohibited.

Sentinel Silver 20 and 35 OSW films are designed to be an external sentry for buildings, protecting them from high levels of heat, glare and UV. They deliver high solar performance in an optically clear film for situations where indoor film should not or could not be applied.As glazing systems become more advanced, the need to apply OSW films will increase. These are more likely to be installed on commercial buildings rather that residential properties.

  • They are ideal for Low-e glazing with the coating on the inside of the inner pane (surface 3), due to the reduced risk of glass breakage and damage through the application of the film on the outside.

 

  • With OSW films, more of the absorbed energy is released into the outside air, which puts less stress on the actual glass. This means that film can be applied to tinted, laminated and some wired glazing.

 

  • Film can be applied without access to the inside of the building, eliminating security issues and situations where the glass would be inaccessible from inside (including where bars or wire mesh is applied on the inside of windows for security purposes).

 

  • The Solar protection properties of Outside Weatherable Films are outstanding. They reduce glare, block 99% of ultra violet radiation, and reflect heat before it even enters the building, preventing hot spots to make the building more comfortable.

 

  • An OSW film is highly energy efficient reducing the need for air conditioning systems to make the building cooler.
